And was it worth what ya spent?

How easy was it to install? How easy is it to adjust? What kind of performance gains did you get? Do you wish you had more versatility?

Yeah, I'm thinkin' about it. But at the moment, just thinkin'.

I had one in my Gixxer, the basic download map was rubbish, but after 6 hours in a dyno with a guru of its field.. I gained extra 8,7 RWHP, which was more than worth while.

Power Commander, is cool, if you easily want to put your bike back to normal before selling it. jut unplug the PC and take your cans away.. and you have a stock bike.

It was dead simple to install. Spent an hour or two on the dyno. Went from 113 to 119 peak with the TORs. I was very happy with it.

However, when the Tuneboy came out, I had to have it. It allowed me to remove the powercommander and my yellowbox speedo corrector(gear change) and make changes directly.

Contrary to popular lore, the tuneboy with an additional laptop connected to the dyno, does emulate a powercommander and can use tuninglink for a perfect tune. It's a bit fussier as you have to turn off the bike and upload the program after each dynorun, oh, and it crashes sometimes, but it works.

That being said, if you don't mind an extra box under the seat and haven't made gearing changes, then the powercommander is easier to set up and use.

I guess mine is for sale. Its complete with the O2 bypass module. It's a steal at $250. Anyone interested, drop me a pm or respond here.

I've got a tuneboy as well... and I like the fact that it does not add anything into the system. TB downloads a new map in the ECU instead of a device that changes the ECU output. It allows the bike to correct as it should for temp, atmospheric conditions etc... It takes no time to upload a map. Plus the TB has all the diagnostic and other capabilities the factory unit has.

As far as tuners go, any tuner worth their salt will be able to do a great tune with the TB, the interface is very similar to PCIII... The only negative is, if you get a PCIII guy he may not understand all the adjustments that can be made in TB to REALLY dial in the bike...

So, lemme get this straight - if you DON'T have access to a dyno facility, both the PC and the Tuneboy are pretty much useless?

My thinkin' was you could download predetermined maps already worked out on a dyno.

But then ya gotta remember, I am from the era of carburetors and shims and needles and jets (the tuning of which could of course be enhanced by dyno testing, but which was also largely a seat-of-pants and word-of-mouth thing). Fuel injection confounds me.

to my knowledge you can do it yourself, but if u want it optimized then do it on the dyno so you can get the max in one hit.

The box? no. hence the $150 discount. As far I know, it's not required for the install, ya bell end. Unless you fancy folding it up like origami and making a flyscreen out of it.

The documentation? no, but available on the internet which it seems you have

The stickers? no, but I reckon you'll be as fast without them.

A sarky American? I guess we do exist.

R100, you can swap tunes from other owners with similar components and you'll be close....with either TB or DJ. at least as close as you could get with seat of the pants, shims, and needles.
