Put my new seat on the triple - lo and behold it does not fit properly-it had about a 2 inch gap at the front by the gas tank. Not very attrtactive. I sent it back today and told them to fix it or refund me. It is also not as comfortable as the stock seat in my opinion and another rider who rides my bike a lot tried it and said the same. It has an abrupt straight up and down section right at where my rear hits and is not comfortable . The padding seems a bit thin also.
Come on guys you can do better than this!
Not a happy camper after a 300 mile day yesterday.
I have to put a do not buy rating on this product for now.

Wow - not something I wanted to hear (well, actually am glad to hear before laying down my coin - sorry it was at the expense of your trouble) whilst in the market for a new seat. Sorry, man.

I received one of the first seats from Sargent with multiple problems with the fit. It was returned to be corrected, and when I got the new seat back, the problems had been lessened, but still existed. It finally went back for credit and the stock seat is back on my bike.

Sorry to hear it.

However, since it's only those with complaints who tend to respond ("when the dog is lying in the dog's bed, you have no story; when the cat is lying in the dog's bed, it is news"), I just want to chime in and say I'm happy with the Sargent.

Yep, it's got the rise. Cafe folks might even call it a butt-stop, and it much mroe like a cafe seat. I have a Corbin on the BMW that has the same thing. Doesn't bother me, but then I'm a fairly small human. I can see it giving taller folks very little room to maneuver.

Fit on mine is as good as stock, which is to say there's a gap but not enough to get my panties in a bunch (they're thongs so they don't bunch easily :moon: ). Certainly nothing like a two-inch gap.

I also like the more radical styling and think the Corbin looks too much like stock. Others have said they hate the styling of the Sargent. Go figger.

As previously mentioned, on accounta your butt is your biggest point of contact between You and Bike, the convergence of the two is of paramount importance. And since everybody's butt is different, some are gonna like the Sargent, some are gonna hate it. Some are gonna like the Corbin, some are gonna hate it. And some will be perfectly happy with the stock seat.

I'm just glad we have choices now.

For the FULL AND ONGOING RAGING DEBATE, see the review I posted when I got mine:

Dunno man, this photo shows a big gap IMO;

Cmon Corbin guys, lets get a Sargent vs Corbin photo duel going! I'll host the pics!

I'm going to do an extensive photo shoot of my own bike with all the little mods when I get the fork legs back from Dennis.

Part of that is the angle and the flash - makes The Gap look bigger than it is.

Here's a shot of the stock seat, actually taken well before I got the Sargent or The Gap debate started.

Note that the angle is not dead-on, but you can see The Gap. In fact, I'd bet that a directly horizontal angle, like the one in the photo Kuhlka's referencing, would show a similar gap on the stocker.

Here's a higher angle - the gap isn't as noticeable.

And if you're not lookin' for it, you probably wouldn't even see it.

I'm not sayin' there's no gap or that Sargent doesn't have some consistency issues when it comes to fit. The obviously do. Bkrbil's seat fit was HORRIBLE and I don't blame him for sendin' it back.

However, I'll stick by my main points:
[*] The Gap exists with the stock seat
[*] On mine, it's not noticeable unless you're lookin' for it
[*] Style preferences and comfort will vary widely between iindividual, and comments on such (including mine) should be considered with that subjectivity in mind (well, except for Nuclear Red - everybody agrees that sucks).

I find it comfortable. Others might not.

Actually, I'd encourage HiVel to try a Corbin and see if that suits him better. It might.

Doesn't matter to me if someone buys a Sargent or a Corbin. I don't own stock in either. Both make a good product (in fact, I have both brands) and both will customize your seat with different foam, custom shape, different covers, etc. - it's all a matter of how much you wanna spend and how long you're willing to wait.
