MAYBE I'AM THINKING TOO MUCH BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT WITH EVERYBODY SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT AFTERMARKET EXHAUST BECAUSE THE STOCK IS TOO RESTRICTIVE, THAT POWDER COATING THE INSIDE OF THE PIPE WOULD JUST MAKE MATTERS WORSE. ANY THOUGHTS?

Several issues here with what you said.

First of all, Ceramic coating is not Powder coating. It's a very thin coat much like chrome and wouldn't effect flow. FYI, Powder Coating is a polymer like plastic, and Ceramic is (as it's name implies) Ceramic.

Second, Powder coating is also pretty thinly applied, but would cause all sorts of havoc inside an exhaust pipe. It would eventually melt, flake off, and the exhaust pulses could pull pieces up into the head. Bad news!

Thirdly, the restrictions in the factory pipe are more due to the sharp bends in the header than the diameter of the pipe. A good header like Zard has very gentle bends and as few bends as possible. Also, the collector isn't optimally designed for proper flow. Finally the half system that splits the exhaust into two mufflers is extraordinarily poorly designed, with poor bends and too small pipe.

None of these problems would be solved, or made worse, by ceramic coating.

None of this applies to the factory silencers, which have a catalytic converter inside of them and are quite restrictive. There's only one way to fix that: Replacement!

how could it possibly reduce temps?

The theory on that is that the ceramic coating acts as an insulator which keeps heat IN the pipes. Hot air (exhaust) flows faster than cooler air so it helps exhaust the gasses better....theoretically. They say that the coating since it insulates keeps the outside of the pipe cooler. I personally dont buy it.

Sounds like a stretch! I guess if it were a poorer conducter of heat than the pipe alone that would possibly make a difference but nothing worth talking about I would imagine.
