Above 35 MPH the gearbox has a metalic chatter (like keys vibrating on the bars). It only occurs under load and louder during acceleration. MY S3 is only two months old and has 2k miles and I am not quite sure the chatter was there when I first got the bike.

The service guys at Rocket cycles in San Diego were great - spent an hour - heard the chatter but could not determine what it was and felt that I should just ignore it for now.

Anybody else notice that noise and is it an issue?

I haven't had this chatter. For what it's worth my gear box has progressively gotten smoother after each oil change. When I first rode the bike I thought the gearbox was horribly clunky but it has smoothed out a lot.

Gearbox - Gear Change Clunk

Slackcat, Soooo good to hear that.

Since new it clunked on gear change, I thought I was damaging it, and that I had a bad bike. Sometimes it was really smooth, so I thought, if it CAN be smooth, then isn't it meant to be smooth all the time?

My Bonnie '07 has just had its first service at 1000kms. I am noticing some improvement, you say it will get better? What miles or kms did you really notice, or is it about oil?

Thanks

mow.

Nunzio:

I bought my 2007 S3 from Lance at Rocket Cycles. They are RETARDS. Come accross as cocky, act like they are bothered. I called the other day to schedule a time to come in to have a tune downloaded. Service was busy so lance took my number and said they'd call me back. NEVR FREAKING DID. And they are retards...did I say that already?

I bought my bike out of the crate...was in the crate in the back of rocket when I first saw it. When they were prepping it for me it wouldn't start. never even sat on it and the bike wouldn't start. Long story short, it had a faulty injector. They told me it would be a week because the ECU was bad, they spent DAYS trying to evaluate what was wrong. BRAND NEW BIKE and I was dying.....DYING to ride it and my confidence was shattered....brand new bike out of the crate and already a problem.

I was at Starbucks one day and just HAPPENED to randomly talk to a dude that worked on Triumphs! Just telling him what was up, he suggests having them check the injectors. Turns out an injector was clogged. Rocket changes out the injector and the bike runs PERFECT.
