Hey all!

New owner saying hi! Just bought an 05 S3. Couple questions I would hope to have answered:

- What's the best rear stand to buy (quality price ratio)? The Triumph one is awefully pricey. How about Pit Bull? Does it fit an 05+. I need to make sure the stand allows me to take off the rear wheel.

- Where to get owners manual and shop manual. Anybody has it in .pdf?

- How sturdy is the motor? I just bought the buy used with 5000Km (aboutt 3500 miles) on it and the rear tire was pretty destroyed down the middle. The owner might have been a bit of a wheelie hound. Are these motors prone to failure from wheeliying from oil starvation like other motors with badly placed oil pick-up points? Anything I need to worry about?

- What are the best frame protectors/sliders to buy? I don't want them too short, but not too long either that they'd lever off the bike, make the tires bite and promote flipping in the event of a low-side.

- Any other idiosyncraties I should know about?

Thanks for your input! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Welcome to the party Man but take it easy! So many questions. All the answers are a quick search of this forum away. Enjoy!

I like the saying above your picture. It seems right to me.

Thanks for the free bump. I did do a search and either I am not using the right words in my queries or there are not many results that respond to my questions.

Happy to hear from anyone who has knowledge on these issues.

I sent you a PM. Email me and I'll send you an owners manual in PDF.

Everybody seems to think the Pitbull stands are best, I bought a SW Motech centerstand from Twisted Throttle instead. Look at the stickie post Aftermarket Goodies for all kinds of accessories.

Don't worry about oil starvation from wheelies, it does not appear to be a problem. Lots of people useing S3's for stunting. 3500 miles on the stock tire is good life. Lots of people wear them out in 2500. The Michelin Pilot Powers have great grip, not long life.

When I spoke with Kyle Woods down in Daytona, he didn't mention anything about modifying his own bike for wheelies. I know Kevin Carmichael does a minor modification to the oil pickup for LONG 12o'clock slow wheelies, but otherwise, both have said oil starvation on highway standups isn't an issue.

I prefer the Motech centerstand, but there are some rearstands on ebay for a decent price.

I've got a full set of Skyking sliders and they're great. Haven't had a chance to 'break them in' yet though.

My 955 motor has held up just fine to daily flogging in the entire rev range, revlimiter-slapping wheelies when I was first starting out on the bike, and all other kinds of abuse. The forks are a bit slogged out at this point though from a couple sets of NASTY potholes. Pisses me off that a construction company would leave 8" deep holes in the road and not fill them. Ah well, gave me an excuse to go USDs with Racetech internals.
