I may be full of S*&T but it just occured to me that allthe popping is going on during decel. My own experience is when i'am down shifting. You shift to a lower gear, try and match the revs with the throttle( not easy to do ) and let the clutch out. The engine revs , as the revs start to slow the popping starts. So, my question is, would a slipper clutch help any or am i barking up the wrong tree? Does anybody even make one for S3. What ya think?

It can be the same with any bike. When you leave the throttle open during down shift you are naturally going to get a pop of sorts. My Warrior does it. It can be a number of things. I know I play with the throttle on decel because I enjoy a good pop. If I get of the gas quicker on decel she won't pop.

From what I have read here it seems that the 1050 bikes with TORS and Tune do not pop, however the 955 bikes with TORS and Tune do pop on decel. I think that the secondary air injection system causes the popping. I think the only way to stop the popping would be to remove the air injection system. Some say the popping is from a lean condition, however Formula One cars pop on decel, and I believe those engines to be perfectly tuned.

The S3 doesn't need a slipper clutch... it would be redundant.

For those having issues with popping... Make sure all of your joints are truly sealed... mine weren't. MAkes a difference...

I removed the SAI and installed a non-SAI tune. No more popping, banging, or other loud noises anymore.
