I work odd hours, 8pm - 230am, and I discovered something cool. After about 230am there's no one on the road. I mean there's a coupla cars but nothing like riding during the day. If you guys get the chance, go for a ride till the sun comes up. It's friggin' awesome. The air is cool, the traffic is light, and all the cops are either doing reports or bustin' tweekers on the bad side of town.
It's like you own the road, like you rented the town for the night to do as you please. If you get the chance i highly recomend it.

You got that right Calitriple..!!
Back when I was still living in California I too had off around 2am and I'd always take the long way home from work during the summer. Never rode till sun-up so I guess I missed out on something..

I agree that night time is the best time to avoid traffic, but here in the CT,NY,MA area, that's the best time to hit deer, too. Last friday evening, I was heading from a buddy's house to my g/f's house, about 9PM. I was on an absolutely beautiful road, which I had almost forgotten about due to the heavy traffic during the day. But instead of enjoying the ride, I was crawling at 35 miles an hour scared out of my mind. In the 28 miles of scenic road, no street lights, gas stations, or towns, I counted 13 groups of deer. And that's only the ones I saw.

I like to drive all night on rode trips like my annual 1200 mile trek from SC to Ontario. Lack of traffic and cops makes that more pleasant. However, since most of my bike riding is on unlit mountain roads, I don't think the middle of the night is the best time to try to drag the pegs. I prefer early morning weekend rides when most of the populace is sleeping off their drunk.

Yeah, I think if I had to watch for deer I'd be scared too. 'Specially if you eat it in the middle of nowhere. Who'd find you, right? Eff that.....
The only wildlife I have to watch for here is the occaisional tweeker on a sh!ty bike towing a stroller fulla copper or an escapee from the loony bin wandering down the middle of the road. I live in Modesto, home to scott peterson, Shandra Levy, Carrie Stainer, and the Sund trial... lots of freaks and weirdo's.....
:knkknk:

But if you guys get the chance, try riding late. Take your old lady out for dinner and a late movie. When you're finished with "desert" go for a ride. She'll probably let you if you did everything right. ">
