Imagine a rock, about 3 feet long, 2 feet wide and about 2 feet high and weighing about 250lbs lying in the middle of the road. Now imagine yourself running into the rock at 60 mph. Hitting a full grown wombat is sort of the same.
Here is a picture of one

D@mn, that's a wambat!!!??? Looks like the retarded cousin of a koala. I thought a wambat was a flying animal not some kind of roadkill supreme. Geeeeeze, I'd hate to hit one of those.
Hey, quick question. Do you guys have backwoods inbred's that eat roadkill like that down there like we do?

I resent being called a backwoods inbred just because I like a bit of roast wombat. (And for your information my parents aren't brother and sister, he11, they aint even first cousins).

I thought wombats were like snipes, a rural legend if you will.
The best time to ride around my parts is the early, butt crack of dawn, Sunday morning ride. Little to no traffic, cool air and the drunks are home sleeping. Nothing like being out in the country and pulling over to the side of the road and hearing church bells ring.
Guess I should be AT church, huh.

Another vote for the early morning Sunday ride.
I used to work nights and I'd finish about 4am, so I could be on the road just before dawn during the summer. I work more sensible hours now, but I still get up at 6am most Sundays, and I'm back home just as most people are going out.

Cal, you kill me, thats funny S%&T, I dont care who you are thats funny. No better time to ride than nightime. The deer can be a problem though, they are like rats around here, everywhere, especially in the fall when they are looking to get some . I f you see one, theres more close behind, usually does, then a big ol buck chasin them.

Yea, you don't wanna leave your Speed Triple alone during mating season! When you return to it you'll probably find some big buck mounted doggy style with eyes crossed and tongue hanging out while power pumping the exhaust outlets..!!!
