i notice some of you guys who have done your own custom license plate mounting, you don't have a license plate light. isn't this illegal? in texas it is. i drilled some holes in my custom license plate bracket i made so i could attach the license plate light. it also has to be a white light per texas law.

just wondering how some of you get away with it?

The light is legal. Don't know if the way I mounted it is.

I made my bracket to accommodate the stock light.

Some other folks use bolts with built-in lights like these:

This requires cutting the stock wires and I wasn't quite ready to do that yet.

In Wisconsin the plate is "supposed" to be 100% vertical to the back of the bike with a light on it......

and well no one does that.....

It's not very enforced, and I can thank Harley for that. With HD being in Milwaukee they have a certain "push" on what can slide

My plate is mounted between the rear passenger pegs with no lights on it.

a closer look

If a cop is going to give you a ticket for that he is either being a d!ck, having a bad day, or something else out of your control.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it.

What about inspection, will it pass without a light? same question for intergrated brake / turn signal?

my plate is mounted like corners but i do have a light on it.

i didn't on my previous bike and it was never an issue.

really depends on where u live. cops in some areas are a lot more bored than cops in other areas, like chicago. i dont think they give a F.

The inspection thing is going to be an area by area thing as well.

I know with my Warrior (integrated signals for the rear and and LED's strips from fronts) when I get and inspection, I give the guy the money for the sticker and I am on my way.
