I consider it when there is a gun to my head and the person holding it is telling me to wear one.

Okay, again, I'm following my Cop Rule as far as what to wear in hot weather and what type of riding.

Commuting, slow, around town:

It's actually DOT and Snell approved. I wear aviator-style goggles and ditched the visor - it causes lift above 50 mph. Yes, I am older than most rocks and sometimes old habits are hard to break.

For faster riding, I have a Fulmer Modus 2 flip-up helmet. Some day, everyone's gonna have this style. It's very handy. But right now they're only DOT - even the $600 Schuberth that the cops wear is not Snell-approved.

I'm pondering picking up one of the following. Okay, so I'm a helmet whore.

KBC Dark Zombie

KBC Force RR A2

KBC Force S

When I totalled Speedy I hit the ground face first. The face shield took the impact. It was in town, low speed (~40 mph) but without a full face helmet I would have been looking at major cosmetic surgery or worse. I would never consider riding without a full face helmet.
