I can see, with my helmet on, as much as I can see with it off (Shoei RF-1000). No vision impairment what so ever. I can't hear **** at 60MPH anyway, from the rushing wind, or from my loud ass Mivv, so I wear ear-phones or ear-plugs. I am not sure what I should be listening for anyways...schreetching brakes, sirens? Both can be easily taken care of with visual alertness and proactive riding. Taking a rock to the face can also be a major factor in whether you crash or not. Up here in the NW there is a lot of gravel, after fall, winter, and spring, on the fun twisty roads, so this happens on a regular basis for me.

Also there is no such thing as a hermetically sealed helmet. They are all open on the bottom, so that you can put your head in to it.

Hey man listen...only you know what you like and perceive as danger. What ever you go with good luck out there.

A picture's worth...

I usually wear a half helmet when I ride my Speemaster - but make my passengers wear a full face:

That said, I wear a full face if it's raining or a long highway trip or everytime I'm on my Speed Triple:

Even then, **** happens... this happened when I wasn't even moving - hit from behind by another BIKER:

I vote full face... but take my chances when cruising.

roof boxer is a great option, it gives you the best of both worlds. I crashed with one a couple of years ago it worked pretty well so I replaced it with a new one.

What about this? http://schuberth.com/index.php?id=22&L=1

I just bought one and used it for a half hour ride without the chin bar - seemed a bit top heavy, i.e. pushed down on my eyebrows, but maybe that's just me getting used to it....

It is very quiet, much quieter than my full face helmet. The only thing I really dislike about it is the car seat type buckle.....
