Well today I picked up my pristine 2003 ST from the dealership, and after an hour was on my way home and having a blast, man this bike is awesome!

I was 15 minutes from home after riding for an hour when I came to an intersection. I waited for a clear road and then***** me I get nailed in the rear by a car She thought I was moving and was not looking ahead. Anyway the bike gets pushed right from under me, I was stationary at the time, and I watch as it keels over and hits the deck on its left side. I was in shock, I could not believe what this women just did. To cut a long story short the bike only had some minor scrapes to the engine case and handle bar ends but the plastic connector from the fuel line to the EFI cracked so petrol was pissing out all over the place. A fireman stopped the leak but I could'nt ride it so had to have a mate of mine pick it up in a trailor.

I called the dealership with the news and after a while they found that the part I need for the fuel line was not a stock item so I will have to wait about a week before I can even think about getting back on the road.

I need to let off some steam, I think I'll go open a few beers

Wow. Now that's depressing.

If it helps (and I doubt it will) you can pick up some new metal fuel fitting here http://www.rideteamtriumph.com/speed_triple.htm. They are very expensive (I don't know what the plastic ones cost). But you might be able to get them more quickly and you probably won't have them cause you any problems in the future.

Good luck with the repairs and getting that bad boy back on the road soon.

I just did a search on these forums on the fuel leak and I did find a number of postings on the metal replacement connects, thanks. The plastic one is a mere $35 item but I am really inclined to go with the $70 metal ones and have them fedex over-night as I am dying to ride :-D

I was wondering if they are a complete swap with none of the oem connect parts being used because one of the tiny little springs from the oem connector clip was lost.

I feel your pain. My bike was 6 weeks old when I got clipped from behind, while I was stopped. in traffic. He got me more from the side so my exhaust took the brunt of the hit. I'm still waiting for the kid's insurance check so I can go ahead and upgrade the exhaust.

I hope you were able to keep yourself from strangling the woman. A few minutes of a profanity laced tirade helped me vent. But ain't it just the sh*t to get a brand new toy, and then have someone screw it up for you.

To be honest I was just numb, I really did want to vent but reckoned I would just go sit down and try and figure what to do next.

I just spoke with Great Bay in NH and they said they have not received any recall notice so who knows how long it will be before they go ahead and mskr it official. In the meantime I can get put them on myself and have the womens insurance pay for them.

Yea what a bloody nightmare

I'm trying to find the petrol connect so I can at least get back on the road asap but no one has them in stock, not even the custom ones, 10 days to two weeks on order ugh. Canton should have the OEM one in by Friday but I had to explain on the phone and I just hope they ordered the right.

I'll give your dealership a try, I've tried all the MA ones with no luck.
