just got back from a ride on my white 06 s3. had a blast as usual !!! I have a peave though about other riders on harleys and choppers. I wave at anyone on a motorcycle. most of the time the others wave back. not the people of the aformentioned type. ARE THEIR HEADS STUCK SO FAR UP THE "HOLE" and MIRED IN THE HARLEY-ESQUE MIND SET THAT THEY CAN'T WAVE BACK. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK??

I don't waive to them, "sport" bikes only.

Never noticed.. I always wave and normally get a response.. Don't really care if I get one in return or not, I do it for me, not them..

Good philosphy. For my part, I'd rather wave and be ignored than neglect to do it when it would be welcome.

Around here, most everyone waves. Once in a while you get a cruiser rider from the big city who doesn't, but that's rare.

Here's my Rant I posted on our Rat Pack forum. I was surprized at the reaction of people who hate to wave.

Ok, I’m going to take the easy way out for my first rant, Why is there such a hierarchy to motorcycling? Take for instance the Harley riders not waving to sportbike riders or streetfighter tough guys thinking that both cruisers and sportbike riders are out of touch with what’s cool. I know that I have to stop myself from looking down on those guys driving those scooter things (sorry I don’t even know what they are called). I try to look at it as “Hey they’re on two wheels and wind in their face”. I should give them a wave too. I love all bikes and if I have enough money I would have one (maybe two) of everything. So what gets me is how did it get like this? I know all things get grouped and people feel more comfortable with there on kind but I think this is bullnuts. We should all embrace the fact that we all love the same thing Motorcycling! I know that most of the Triumph owners that I’ve ridden with could care less what you ride as long as you ride and that’s the way it should be. Pack you make me proud!

What do you think?

Oh look another waving thread - just like the ones that come around every couple of months :-D

Who cares if they wave or not. Are you riding for fun and enjoyment, or riding because your'e saying "Hey Lookatmeigottabetterbikethanyou"?

If you like to wave, great, if not who cares? But really, we're all different and all ride for all kinds of different reasons.

Remember, everyone is someone elses wierdo! :-)

Mick

Most people around here wave. Once in a while you'll find a guy who is pre-occupied, clueless, or a culture snob and doesn't wave back. I generally wave to everyone on two wheels, and even the occasional cager who waves at me. I tend to get the most waves from cages in the winter months. I guess some of them realize what kind of brass tacks it takes to ride all the way down to 20F and wave out of respect.

I personally despise scooters though. There is just something too cute and silly about them. I can understand having a bike that'll only do 60mph and get 150mpg AND carve twisties and in town like a SOB, but some of these scooters out there just look like *****, handle like *****, and don't get very impressive gas mileage compared to my 40-50mpg S3. However, I still wave to the sorry buggers from time-to-time.

Gotta get my wheelies better so I can wave while up on one.

I wave to anyone as long as it doesn't endanger me. Scooters Harley, who am I to judge them? Most do wave but I do get an ocasional cold shoulder to which I chuckle to myself.
