so i bought a used 23 out of the paper. i sighned the bank papers last friday and picked up bike last saterday. however when riding home i noticed that he took off the side handle bar mount mirrors and put back on the stockers. so i called him on sun and we yelled for a while he claimed that since he sold the bike way cheaper than he wanted to that he took off the mirrors. so after i thanked him in my best sailor language i told him he never mentioned that when he accepted my deal. so he said i could pick up mirrors.what im getting at is what if he tries somthing like this again and say i cant have mirrors after all. can i call bank 2morow and put hold on check till i get all parts promised to me or is this a huge ordeal. by the way the banks have been closed all this week due to 4th of july. any suggestions

With apologies to Cheapbastard...but isn't that a perfect example of a cheap bastard?

If he did not tell you that the mirrors were not included in the agreed upon price...he should give then to you. IMHO.

call the bank and tell them to stop payment on the check if you dont get the mirrors right away , banj cheques have quite abit of retrieval

glad you did not pay cash

around here that type of thing gets you a sore nose

I'd go and try to pick up the mirrors first, before I'd even consider stopping payment on the check for that reason. In some states, that's just as frowned upon by the law as what the guy did to you.

Even if that's not a major concern in Colorado, it could still be an awkward matter if the bank financed the purchase (which you seem to indicate is the case, if I'm reading correctly). The title to the machine is their security interest in the loan, and they may not want to jeopardize it by having you stop payment on the whole deal because of a couple of mirrors!

Try to work it out with the seller first (and quickly, before the banks open tomorrow). If that's not successful, check with your banker before you do anything drastic. He or she may have a better suggestion than just stopping payment.

Obviously, it's BS the guy did this... But come on... 100.00 worth of mirrors a deal killer??? :hammer:

Go pick them up. If he's cool he'll apologize profusely and all is well. If not, he's a d!ck and you still got one sweet deal overall... I certainly wouldn't kill the bargain you got simply to make a point...

Geof3 is spot on...
You got a good deal, you gonna get bloody over $100 worth of mirrors?

BTW: In many states you CAN'T stop payment on a check used for a purchase.. There's nothing other than a verbal contract to support your claim...

Enjoy your new ride!

If they were on when you made the deal AND no mention was made of removal, they're yours. I would just tell him it's the right thing to do...if he disagrees...screw 'em. Let him have them. But, for the record, you're in the right.
