i just filled my 05 spd triple with juice and got a pathetic 88 miles out of it before the fuel light came on. i do thrash about alot but is that a normal figure?
i always fill up when light comes on as i dont know how many miles i'd get on reserve. im off on a 2000 mile trip soon so i need to know what others are getting out of a full tank of gas on the new triple

cheers celt

I got exactly 111 miles to a full tank, I know this because my red light came on at 98 miles, so I assumed I had at least 20 miles on a red light, however much to my mates amusement I ran out, so much embaressment and carrying of petrol cans on the back of my mates bike ensued !!

Celt, I have a 06 white s3 and so far it seems to be very sensitive to how I ride it. If i ride like a cretin  it drinks the juice. However I have managed 110 before the red light and about another 30 miles after.

The average on the display normally seems between 45-50mpg.
no idea how accurate this is because I know computers lie.

And I know the motors in these things are on the rich side which does not help !

Cheers Slip.

Celt, it depends on how I am riding.....if I am giving it some stick the light comes on at 180Km (112miles) and general riding (cruising at 100 - 130kph (60 - 80mph) it comes on at 195km (122miles). If I fill at the time the light comes on it takes about 13 litres (2.9 imp gallons or 3.43 US gallons)

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of getting rid of my 03 for an 06 but couldn't live with the range.

The 03 has a 5.5 gallon tank and I can go 160 miles before the low fuel light and it still only takes 3.5 gallons so that should leave me enough to do over 200 miles easily.

I ride pretty hard, get 130 miles before fule light, 3.5 gal. I tried riding easy on a tank just to see the difference, got 147 before fuel light. under a hundred miles seems very low.

I have a little over 3000 mi on my 06 and have been keeping track of gas mileage and i consistently get 35 miles to the U.S. gallon driving to and from work and get 42 miles to the U.S. gallon on the highway. Low fuel light comes on having used 3.5 or 3.6 U.S. gallons.

I usually get the light at about 140 miles. It takes about 3.5 gals to fill up so I guess I still have about 1.25 gals left. That should be another 40 to 60 miles...I'm guessing I could get around 200 miles before I ran out...not bad.

My light comes on at 100-108 miles under normal conditions, and if I'm racing it's more like 88-95 miles. Bike is very sensitive to how you ride it.

My best ever milage was 40, and I average about 32. (By measure and math, not dependent on the Trip computer)

These bikes also differ considerably between units. I rode with an identical bike over an identical distance where we split the time in the lead. Result: Me- 32 MPG, Him-40 MPG. I don't know why. (No, I'm not fatter.)

Slippery, your trip computer is set to Imperial gallons and miles. Hold down all three buttons until you see a single number. I bet it's 2. Change it to 3. It will still be optimistic, but much closer to fact.
