i have read a bit about the tuneboy on this site and i have a couple of questions.

which one is best for a novice?
i have seen a few dyno places in uk that do the powercom maps for you on there dynos but i havent seen any people doing the same for the tuneboy. i dont think i have the knowledge to get technical with this stuff myself.

will the powercom sort out the throttle response as well as the tuneboy does?

i will be buying a new exhaust soon so can you vote for

a) powercomander
or
b) tuneboy

i'll buy the winner :-D

I know what you mean mate.. I have the same issue, it would seem that the only option we have over here is the power commander, I am seriously considering the power commander in my speed triple as I am not confident myself to tune the beast... I don't know much about tuneboy but I like the fact with the power commander you can literally unplug it and your bike turns back to normal. Can't be sure but I think the tuneboy literally remaps the actual ECU, would prefer to leave that beast well alone...

I vote power commander only because I don't know where I am at with the tuneboy...

My .02 worth:

Power Commander. It's proven, there's a lot of support, dyno tuners are used to working with it, it's easy to use, you can easily go back to "zero map", you can merge maps, there are a variety of maps easily downloadable on their website depending on your configuration, you can make the fuel management on your bike more efficient even with a totally stock bike, then simply change the map when you add a pipe, filter, etc.

Can you read Triumph fault codes with a Power Commander.? I see that as a big plus with the Tuneboy.

Tuneboy has lots of advantages over Power Commander. For instance, it allows you to modify the engines ignition timing and advance curve. It can also let you monitor engine sensor output, read fault codes, and modify based on these outcomes. Also, it allows you to correct the speedometer- and they are ALL wrong.

I've been told that it's quite simple to go back to the zero map from Tuneboy, so that shouldn't be an issue for you. There are many downloadable Tuneboy Maps, just as there are PC maps, but the best policy to to build a Map for your specific bike and configuration.

The biggest advantages to Power commander are the fact that every moron with a dyno knows how to tweak a PC, and the PC allows for some extra things like a power shift module and fuel richening for something like a Nitrous system.

If it were me, I would find a shop that already uses Tuneboy and have them work it over on the dyno (This is my plan). You'll have to buy a Tuneboy Key and pay the dyno time, but you will come away with better results. If you are just a backyard twiddler, then stick with the Power Commander.

TuneBoys' website listst the differences between PC and Tuneboy.
My experience with TuneBoy - described elsewhere on this forum - is that I went from 121.4 hp to 129.8 hp in full standard configuration, thanks to the experienced and knowledgeable tuner. The standard TuneBoy mapping for the S3 in standard configuration brought 3 hp, the remainder is due to the tuner in question.

sounds excellent, but there has been no adoption of Tuneboy in the UK. So PC it is.

No support either here for Tuneboy, but I still went with tuneboy. At least I don't have to to take up any of the limited underseat space and have a whole bunch of wires running around.
Am very happy with Tuneboy support.

I'm in the same zone. Currently in contact with the guys at Tuneboy... They've got it pretty wired really. Easy to go back to "stock".

My issue with the PCIII is the "bypassing" etc. Plus it's a point of failure possible. Tuneboy can do LOT'S more that the PCIII and from what I understand they will pretty much do a custom map as best they can and send it to you if necesary. I'm personally going with the tuneboy. Plug, download, and go...
