I have an 05. My mate has just bought an 06. We went for a run today and when we stopped I noticed his oil cooler is less than 1/2 size of mine. His has 4 rows and mine has 9 by the looks. I remember someone saying a while ago that the smaller one was for "cooler" climates?? Is this true or is it just a change for 06? If it is for a cooler climate his bike is in the wrong place !!

MY 06 has 10 pass and I check the SM and it also shows
a 10 pass cooler. The oil from the cool is sent to the crank
and main bearing.

I live in the N.E. US it gets cold. I would think the climate is
80F or 26c and sunny every day. Is his cooler thicker then the 10 pass.

I remember reading somewhere that the 06 had a smaller cooler than the 05's. Its was one of the few very small changes made to the 06.

Hope this helps

I have a brand new 06 S3 and my oil cooler has 9 rows. I am interested in purchasing a set of Mike's Grilles and I have been in email contact with him. He asked me if I had the 4 row cooler or the 9 row cooler. During the course of our correspondence, he informed me that Triumph changed the oil cooler from the 9 row version to the 4 row version at Vin No. 261328. Apparently, they realized the 9 row version was overkill. It's nice to have extra cooling capacity but perhaps their engineers determined that the extra cooling capacity was not needed and therefore it was just extra mass to be hauling around. If this is true, I wish I had the 4 row version.
