Anyway, with the Speed3 seat, I'm still confused as to why niether Corbin or Sargent made the rider portion longer than stock. I'd love to be able to slide back some on long rides. My bike is a solo bike so I don't care about passenger space. I'm a big guy and the stock seat kind of locks me in to one position. Another inch front to back would be perfect for me. Roomy, but not too roomy that I would slide.

I expect that both manufacturers have maintained the original seat dimensions so that the Triumph seat cowl can still be used. Also the pillion accomodations are hardly spacious as it is without reducing them by an inch or more.

I'd consider it if they made on with the smuggler option.... it'd be nice to have a bit more secure storage on the S3.

I've had a bunch of leather Corbins on various bikes, and never had a single problem with any of them.

Same here. I have one on both bikes and a third one a few years ago on another bike. They have all held up very well. I ride daily, year-round, so they've all seen their share of rain, sun, winter cold, and summer heat. A little care every few weeks and they stay in excellent shape.

Just to put things in perspective, I've always taken good care of the Corbin leather. Still it peeled away..ah well!

Got my Sargent in yesterday. The fit stinks. Big gap at the front between the seat and tank and does not completely cover the areas of the body panels around the edges of the seat. The Sargent seat does accommodate the 2006 Triumph Grab Rail. So I like that about the Sargent. I am going to call Sargent on Monday 6/26/06.
Now I see that corbin has one. I really had great success with my Corbin on my 2001 Speed Triple. It was not leather, and it did have the carbon look that I wanted. I washed that bike alot and I put 30,000 miles on it, and it was in great condition when I sold the bike with Corbin seat on it.
Does anybody know if the Corbin, with that big gap in the back, allows for the use of the 06 Triumph Grab Rail/Skitch bar? :???:

Yes, they do. The pictures just don't have the trim/rail in place. If you look at the site you can see the bolts in the picture of the bottom of the seat. I'm having mine done in carbon fiber vinyl, with no mount holes for the rear cowl as I don't use one and don't like it all that much...
They will basically do whatever you want. The only thing they can't do is add the little back piece they use on other seats. Not enough room.

After returning my seat to Sargent, they claimed to fix the problems with it's fit. Although the new seat is somewhat better, all the original problems remain. There is a sizable gap between the tank and the front of the seat, a gap along the side between the seat and the panels, a gap between the seat and the taillight assembly (with the seat cowl installed), and a gap between the front bottom edge of the seat cowl and the seat (allowing the possibility of something catching the edge and breaking it). I find it to be a poor design that was barely improved upon the second time around. It's really a nice looking seat, but it has major design flaws. It's going back and the stock seat will go back on.

Just spoke with Sargent yesterday about the fitment issue. They seemed nice and all but they also played dumb and said they have not heard a thing about it. I spoke with someone in R&D about it and they later admitted to having some trouble with the first batch and that mine shipped on Tue June 20th, was not part of that batch and that in fact they had fixed the issues. But he said they size it up against the tank while they have that bagster style new tank bra/bag holder. And that is why there is this huge gap between the seat and tank. I'm not buying that excuse. He also said that there is a big gap between the OEM seat and the tank. Now I know that is not true as I own one...so...I sent him nice, crisp photos of my 06' S3 with both the OEM seat and the Sargent seat. I hope they can give me some kind of solution. I really like the look of the Sargent better than the OEM and the Corbin but if they can't fix this issue, I will return the sargent and check out the corbin.
