How are people locking up their helmets to their bikes? Theirs no underseat hook is there or am I just blind...not that I've looked more than once...ok, twice.

For some reason Triumph doesnt do that! I've seen aftermarket helmet locks but I'm hard pressed to envision when on the bike you can mount it to. From what I can tell you have to either get a bungee net or a helmet lock of the cable locking variety and those seem very useful only when you are parked and with to leave the helmet with the bike.

Maybe somebody knows another solution besides the obvious statement of: "wear the helmet on your head, whaddya need a helmet lock for when you should be wearing it!!"

I'm sure thats not the response you are looking for but brace yourself..

Ride bike somewhere. Park it. Need to leave helmet. Don't need to wear helmet on head when walking into a store or wherever. I'm not that dangerous on foot.

I would never ride around with a helmet on the side of my bike....NEVER! Idiots...

I've seen the locks too but dunno where it would go that would look and be effective. Haven't seen a cable lock that would actually prevent the helmet from falling off the bike.

Thx,
jeff

I never leave my helmet on a bike... locked or not. Cinch up the strap, put your gloves in it and carry it... No big deal. If your shopping put it in the cart or something... Never been an issue for me... No way am I leaving a 500$ lid strapped to my bike to weather the elements (sun especially) or to get messed with by some doucebag... (sp?)

jdub,

I purchased a generic helmet lock that mounts to your handlebars. I placed it in the middle of the risers and you don't even really see it unless you are looking for it. Simple install and works pretty good. I don't lock it up for an all day thing but its nice if you are running in somewhere for a bit and don't want to drag it with ya. Oh and my helmet is a $179 Scorpion so I can buy 2/12 helmets at Geofs price. If someone really wants your helmet they can cut the strap but thats life. Here is a link to copy and paste for one on ebay. I've found them cheaper then this but it shows you what I am talking about. If I have time I'll try to post some pics.

Hope that helps........

Of course I realize someone can easily still steal the helmet. I don't want to carry around the thing for quicker stops, as RedNeck said. Simple as that. Plus I have a second helmet I don't give a #$*& about that I used if I'm going to lock it up longer or in a less "safe" area. Sometimes I take it in places. Sometimes I like to lock it up.

Thanks for the tips.

I saw in a previous post that you can stick the D-rings over the helmet locking post on the seat base and secure a helmet that way. I haven't tried it but in my minds eye it seem like there would be a high probability of melting something on the exhaust. I think that is probably why Triumph did not provide a lock, the exhaust is too close to the seat.

I carry a small combination padlock in the tail section.
Can hang the helmet on the rear passanger peg and lock the "D" rings to the little triangle or set helmet on the mirror and lock it to the mirror stem.

I just bought me a new helmet as my $50 one broke, it
was that model 608 flip up, anyways I never cared if it was taken, but I finally forked out what I call big bucks on a Nolan N102 and it has the seat belt like fastener, not D rings so I have to figure out a way to lock it.
