I don't know how difficult it would be, but has anyone thought about manufacturing a Stainless steel sleeve to go over the headers like an outer shield. It could be designed to have an open section at the back to enable installation. It wouldn't get as hot as the pipe and so would retain its luster...
Just a thought.

that's exactly how cruiser pipes work. Nice chromed sleever over the actual pipe that handles exhaust gasses. Would probably work if you had the time, patience, and skill to do it. I actually like the discoloration, but that's me.
