Does anyone know if you can "just" take the stock sprocket straight off without removing the wheel? (on an 06 1050) Looks like you can just take it straight off once you have split the chain...
Do you have to remove the domed cover first??
Anyone know the torque settings for those nuts???
Cheers in advance...

Yes, you can remove the sprocket by loosening the six bolts on the sprocket edge. Nothing else will come loose, so no need to support the bike on a rearstand or similar. Do not remove or loosen the cust drive unit (the black dome) that sits in the middle - so leave the big nut alone.
Edit. The correct sprocket bolt torque is 33Nm.

Yes, just loosen the chain and the rear sprocket can be replaced without removing anything else. No need to split the chain. Don't know the torque right off hand, it's in the manual at home.

I make it a habit to always replace both sprockets and chain as a set. Unless your front sprocket is virtually new it is a false economy to reuse it. If it is even slightly worn it will accelerate the wear on the chain and rear sprocket.

Well it's only 4 months old.. should be fine.. but good tip... !! I have put the bad boy on.. seems to have made quite a bit of difference but not giving it loads until it has done that initial stretch... maybe wish I had gone down one on the front as well for that ultimate different feel.. worry it might be a little un-rideable with that !! need to get the speedo healer too as it's over reading by approx 10% now.. thought I am not quite sure how much...

Your 42 to 44 sprocket change increased your speedo error by 4.5%. Since I believe the stock speedo error is about 7% you are over 10% now.
I never got around to checking my stock speedo vs GPS so I can't confirm the 7% number but that is what others have posted.
