on the service road for a major freeway. little to no traffic. long stretch. doing about 70mph. amg guns it and i respond. neck and neck to about 100. i downshift to 5th and pull him by about 4 car lengths before slapping the brakes.

$100,000 car just got pwned by a speed triple. priceless.

Had a similar experience quite a while back in Italy, except it went the other way around. I was on my way to Sorrento on an FZR600 loaded with luggage, doing a steady 220kph (~135mph) when a Testarosa casually whizzed by. I did snap a picture!

Similar results, different vehicles, and 32 years ago...

I was driving a Fiat 127 on the Autostrada del Sole in 1974, and saw a red dot in the rear view mirror. A Ferrari blew by like I was standing in a ditch. The end result was a red dot in front getting smaller. Can you say Daytona?

Similar experience on the Autostrada with "PROVA" tag Ferrari going the other way and then coming back by at some incredible speed near Milano in 1964 with me and my wife in my new 1964 Triumph Spitfire -we did not have time to get the camera out of the bag!! Love those Italians!!

I've driven one of those puppys...what a hoot! You should be able to convincingly beat one though... they "only" do mid-12s for the quarter...

i looked it up on google and it only does the 0-60 in 4.8. a bike would kill that. i thought they were faster than that for having 500hp. :hammer:

oh well. i am willing to bet he thought he might beat me and that's why he gunned it. wish i coulda saw the look on his face........

4.8 seconds? My two-decade old boxer would give that a run.

(Hmm... and I could buy 25 of 'em for what you'd spend on one AMG)

At least he had the balls to gun it. So many times where I live I see guys driving Ferrari's and the occasional Lamborghini who are afraid to "drive" their cars. Last month I was on Darnestown Road going south when I come up on a 360 spider (I know because after I got home I looked it up) doing 40 in a 45 with some oldtimer behind the wheel. The guy even pulled off to the shoulder to let me go by. As I passed I could almost feel the Ferrari look up at me with sad eyes beggin to be put out of its misery like a lame horse. People like that just piss me off. They own these great machines but, all they see is an expensive garage ornament or conversation piece.

it happens to the best of us.
I got smoked on a CBR 600 while doing an indicated 145mph, in Switzerland.
3 guys on bikes blew by me like I was picking my nose. And they passed me in my own lane.
On the other hand, I dusted a 996 yesterday on my way home from the mountains.
