Am I correct in thinking that the speedo is driven from the front wheel? So changing the rear sprocket won't affect the speedo reading?

Pretty sure the Speedo is driven by the front wheel on the 2004 and earlier S3.

On the '05-'06 it's driven off of the transmission. There was a previous thread recently on recalibrating the speedometer after changing sprocket sizes.
