I bought my first Triumph this year - am '06 S3 in black and I love it. But I keep reading in biking mags that the building quality is terrible and that they are all worried that after a few years it will fall apart. Is this true? How can these guys know on a new bike. How are your S3's bearing up. I traded in a Harley and a Honda - the Honda build was great but the Harley was a bit suspect.

My 05 is holding up fine. I have 6600 miles on mine. Not many, but I know a few guys that have over 10k miles on here. One is Satansk9, I think he has like 13k miles and he hasn't complained of anything. Btw, welcome to the board. The only problem I foresee you having is that color you picked out!

How come - it does show the scratches a little but black does that - is that what you mean?

Hmm... mine seems as good as any other modern motorcycle. Sure, things like the triple tree could be better finished, but it's no better or worse than anything else out there.
And unlike the old Triumphs, this one doesn't leak oil.
The previous incarnations of the S3 have a pretty good track record, so there's no reason to expect the 1050 to be any different.

Bar-end mirrors! If you want to see what's behind you, get 'em. You won't be sorry.
After that, it's aftermarket exhaust, then nitrous, then a supercharger... All kindsa ways to spend your money.
But truly, the mirrors and seat were the only things I didn't like about my Speedy. Fixed 'em and now I'm a happy camper. Just ride the durned thing.

OOC, what bike mags said there was something suspect about the build quality?
I have 10k miles on my 05, and will have had it a year next month. I have had the mushy brake syndrome, but other than that and it's appatite for tires, the bike is perfect!
