I got tagged going 52 in a 35 tonight. Definitely my fault... I was in another state, it was an empty road, but I was going too fast and I pulled right over once I saw the red lights (I was in NY).

Anyway, as soon as the cop pulled me over he said "wow great bike... does it come without a fairing like that?".

When he came back with the ticket he decided to write me up a $115 "parking ticket" (no points) because he appreciated my pulling over and... ...my bike?! As he headed back to his car he repeated how much he liked the bike.

Now if only he had written me a warning...

that's cool! Atleast he hooked you up with a non moving violation! Sure a warning would've been great, but he could've been an ass too! Hope if I ever get pulled on my triple I'll be so lucky that the cop likes my bike to let me off the chain a little!

Well, no points is good, but a warning woulda been better.

_Always_ be nice to the officer, no matter how much of a jerk he or she is - remember, they have the gun, and they have the ticket book, and basically they can do whatever they d*&m well please. Sounds like you at least got a polite one.

And now you have learned the first lesson o' the Speed Triple. The first name is "Speed" for a reason. The beastie wants to scoot.

I'm finding this out as I switch back and forth between the BMW and the Triple. The BMW is all serious and businesslike and practical, very Bauhaus. It says "I vill take you zere in zee most practical und efficient manner und you vill accept my quirks because vee are smarter than you."

The Speed Triple is like a six-month-old Lab - it wants to RUN RUN! PLAY PLAY!

I have been pulled over twice on the S3 and been given a warning twice. The funny thing is either the cops are trying to be witty or are just ignorant to motorcycles but, each one has asked me if I have laid it down because it doesnt have a fairing. :???:

i got popped doin 58 in a 35 one time. i pulled over immediately. he asked why i was in a hurry. i told him i was trying to get around the car that cut me off (true statement). he advised me to slow it down and to be more careful. let me off with a warning. i thought i was gonna get nailed on that one.

I've been pulled over twice - both times for being slightly over the speed limit (+15mph). Also both times, the cop let me off with a warning, then proceeded to talk to me for about 5 minutes about my bike and how beautiful it was.

Once I was sitting at a red light and a cop pulled up next to me, rolled down his window and said, "Nice bike! Wanna race? The winner gets a ticket!" :-D
