I currently have some 190’s on my Triple and would like to go down to a 180. Wondering if any of you guys are running 180’s on your bike… Personally I like the way a bike turns and the response of a 180…

Thanks

Can't say for the 955 triple's, but my 1050 handles superb with the 180, but it also comes from the factory like that. But I did swap my R1 from a 190 to a 180, and loved every minute of it. If it was me, I'd throw a 180 on there!

I went from the stock 190 to 180--better handling in my opinion.

Just swapped to a 180 on my '04 model and it works fine. However, I do seem to be using more of the tread. I typically have @ 1/4" chicken strips (unless I'm riding in Arkansas) on the back, but I scuffed in the 180 from edge to edge on the first day with it. Maybe the 6" wide wheel flattens out the profile a little.

I'm running 180's on mine............I was surprised at the difference in the handling, its much sweeter in the twisties, only problem is I attack the bends faster and keep wearing them down too fast, I'm now on my 3rd back tyre since january, bloody expensive

Yes it is amazing how much more nimble the bike seems when you go to a 180.. I know my Ducati 996 just felt like a totally different bike once I slapped some 180’s on it.

I am also planning on going to the Perilli Diablo Corsa’s I have used them in the past any are outstanding tires… the only one I have noticed top them are the Diablo Super Corsa Pro….

O yea and they are very expensive… however, I will be doing some track with the bike and it is cheap insurance to have to tires…

Thanks guys….

It's really tough to wipe the edges of a 180 on 5.5, whereas the 190 on 6.0 is pretty easy to clean off. If strips (or lack thereof) are important to you, stick with the 190. 6.0 rims are probably worth the extra twenty bucks for a 200mm.

realizations, something I didn't consider when writing my previous post was the fact that I had just gotten my bike back from having the suspension totally re-built by a local pro when I mounted the 180. The bike inspires a lot more confidence now and it could be that I'm taking advantage of the improved handling & cornering ability. In any case, using up all of the tire's footprint didn't cause me any concern as it never felt like I was about to run off the tread. I'm sure I'll be mounting a 180 again; perhaps try some Conti Road Attacks.

I will stick to my Pirelli Diablo Corsa, I love them tires..

What size 180 are you guys with 955's using on your 6 inch wheels? Not 180/55's i hope....
