Hi guys,

I just got a pair of frame sliders from Skyking.com for my 1995 model... but I'm a total newb, so I don't really know what bolts they're supposed to mount to. Terms like "top engine bolt" don't really mean horribly much to me... can anybody help me out with this? A picture of where they go would be fantastic.

Like I said, mine's a 1995... but these should pretty much mount in the same place for all years, right?

Thanks!

the bolts they refer to are the engine mount bolts. You will be taking the stock mounting bolts off and replacing them with the bolts supplied by the skyking kit.

I dont own or have personally seen a '95 model but I suspect that every Speed Triple is the same is this respect.

You will need a socket/rachet, socket extender, wrench/pliers (to hold the nut steady while loosening/tightening the bolt), and if the '95's are like the '05's you will need a torx socket, perhaps some others on the board can lend a hand in reminding us what size it is that fits the stock engine mount bolt on the S3.

"Top engine mount bolt" would refer to the mounting bolt at the top/front of the engine closest to the radiator.

Here's a pic of my engine area on the right side after a little accident to illustrate:

Read your instructions first. The Torque settings are different on my 05 S3, the left side was less than the right.

BTW the frame sliders really do work. I have the rear top mounted version and they saved my bike. I am getting the forward mounted next.

My reading of the 2006 manual convinces me that the torque setting of the left and right hand sides (upper rear frame mount bolts) are supposed to be the same: ~59 ft lbs. The manual says that the lower left hand torque setting of ~26 ft lbs is for the engine to mounting bracket bolts NOT the mounting bracket to frame bolt (which is the one that I think the slider replaces). Anyone got a manual and can double check me ? at any rate ~59 ft lbs is what I set the left hand upper rear slider bolt to, NOT 26 ft lbs which I think is too low.
