Our first phone was a marvel of modern technology. It did
not have a rotary dial. Then several families ( who you didn't know) "shared" a "party" line. If you picked up the phone to make a call there might be one of the other parties using it then---you could listen to their conversation if you wanted--
you would wait until they hung up. Then you would pick up the hand set, tap on the cradle buttons a few times
and a lady ( the operator ) would come on the line to ask you what number you wanted to call. While you were talking
one of the other families on the party line might pick up to make a call. You could hear the click. This warned you that someone else wanted to make a call, and that they might
be listening to your conversation. Teenagers or younger
were not allowed to use such devises. :-D

I wished I had one! Always been a big Yamaha fan, and those things are just classic!

That is exactly what the Speed Triple reminds me of, a 350LC. The same upright riding position, the same inability to keep the front wheel on the ground, the way it seems to urge you to misbehave. It was the original hooligan bike. I wonder how we all survived to be this old.

I pity the Yanks, I don't think the LC made it across there because of the emissions regs
