OK, try again !! I've had the pipework upto the TOR's polished. Turned out good:

The only difficult part was around the CO2 sensor at the bottom as the casting was rough:

That's _very_ nice.

My question's gotta be, though - how long do you expect it to stay that way? You done anything to seal it or protect it from the heat?

Looks great. The normally rough looking sand cast parts being polished is a nice touch. The rest is stainless and will turn color on the first ride, but you know that already. The collector might stay the same color being as thick as it is.

Thanks for the comments guys. It will change colour within 1/2 hour, no doubt. I actually think it will look better then. It will stay shiny forever though being stainless, it was the rough cast look I was after getting rid of. I've done it on a few bikes, headers tend to give best results with the deep purple to blue to gold. Not sure what will happen back there, but I'll post the pictures to show you......

JD - I sent it out, tried myself for 15 minutes :-D

My sensor casting seems to be holding out. Just a tinge of golden colour after a few hundred kms.
Besides the hardest part is getting rid of the rough casting.
A quick buff will get the elbow nice and silvery again.
As I've said before there is a clear exhaust spray called VHT.
Might seal off the stainless and prevent it oxidising.
Not available here so I can't try it out.
