Has anyone experienced vibration at the handlebars with the new 06 ST? :???:

The idle also fluctuates between 1 - 1.5 k .. is that normal?

I just completed my break-in period on my new 06 ST. At 700 miles I had the first schedule maintenance done on it and now with 1k on it I was looking forward to pushing it and begin enjoying riding it. I was very disappointed on my first long trip, riding the hwy after one hour, my hands were numb from the vibration. ouch ..

Not to mention fighting the wind without a windshield... gotta get one!

sorry dude, sounds like you've got something up with that. Check and make sure that your front wheel is balanced correctly. I just did over 600 miles in 2 days a week or so ago, and had no problems. I have 6500 miles on mine now, and I haven't noticed that issue at all.

Vibration...can't help you there. Without feeling it in person, there's no way to say "normal" or not. Hands going numb after an hour? Could have less to do with vibration than your grip--can't tell this sort of thing by 'remote control.'

Can you clarify the idle speed question, please? Do you mean it sometimes idles at 1000, other days around 1500? Or, one speed after first starting, the other later? Or, after it's warmed up, the idle 'hunts' back and forth between the two speeds?

None of these is particularly normal, but I'd be most concerned about the third. Throttle body imbalance and/or air leaks come to mind there.

Thanks for the replies

Diego,

The vibration is very slight and is felt mostly at higher speeds / constant speed - 5000rpm+ - its like a constant hmmm. Something is not right with the setup. I am dropping it off at my dealer.

The idle 'hunts' back and forth between the two speeds. I looked again and its betwen 10000 - 1200 not 1500 as i stated earlier.

I was told that it would self adjust by starting the bike cold and letting it idle for 27 min... I have to try it and see aht happens.
