Hi,

Does anyone have the procedure to sync the throttel bodies on an 06 S3? I would like to check if the slight throttle delay I have when (gently) opening from a closed throttle is just poor balance.

I've done this previously on a Fazer 1000 to good effect but never on an FI bike, I assume you use vacuum guages just the same? Have Triumph made it easy?

cheers

Tim

Take it to the dealer-my understanding of this is that it is done electronically-computer set up at dealer. Just had mine done (under warranty) and the bike runs great. They did a complete computer set up on the FI. She runs great.

Actually you can do it, or so I assume. The Daytona 600/650 and Speed Four also use the Kiehn Fuel Injection, and the Throttle Body is almost identical: It only has one less hole.

I read a how-to about syncing the Speed Four here about two years ago. It was relatively simple to do and it did require a manometer (Multi-cylinder vacuum gauge). The hard part was supporting the tank over the bike while performing the trick. You can't just run a fuel line to a coffee can full of fuel like in years past!

This guy claimed that the throttle response improved remarkably after syncing. I'd pick up a manual and see what it says. He posted pictures and everything. I think it was right here on Triumphrat.net, so you might try searching the photo galleries, or the Daytona 600/Speed Four forum. Of course it was two years ago, so it may have been somewhere else. My memory, you know.

I have a manual, it is a fairly complex process and requires some devices... and not really doable "G-whiz" at home. This is the only procedure that is making me get the 6k service "done" at the dealer. The rest of it is cake...

Computer cannot turn the screws in the throttle bodies :-D .

The sync is done the same way as with carbs. There is additional tasks like adjusting the throttle position sensor and stepper motor but the sync itself is piece of cake.

Great,

So the process is similar to carbs, plus TPS (like other bikes). Would anyone with a manual be interested in posting a few pages from the manual? I would prefer not to re-invent the wheel by figuring it out myself.

Spending sixty quid on the Triumph manual doesn't appeal nor does a photocopy off ebay...other forums for other bikes post pdf copies of manuals but I suspect Copyright issues are a hot topic?

many thanks

G'day Tim,

I am looking at my service manual - the section on Throttle Body Balancing, and I quote:

"The throttles cannot be balanced using equipment to measure vacuum in each throttle. Instead, the Triumph diagnostic tool must be used."

It goes on to describe connection of the diagnostic tool to the throttle bodies, inserting exhaust extraction hoses to the silencers, then you navigate the menus till you find 'adjustments', select 'balance throttles', then you make adjustments to the throttle adjusters until the word balanced appears on screen.

So without access to the diagnostic tool it appears that you can't do it yourself.

John,

Thanks for that info 'straight from the horse's mouth'!

O well. I read with interest the re-mapping done by the Tuneboy - but I never heard of it in the UK before, does anyone know of a tuner that uses it here?
