I am getting ready to buy a 2002 speed triple and I was wondering if there are any special tools necessary to install a new set of sprockets and a new rear tire? Thanks in advance.

The rear tire requires a BIG socket. I think it's 46mm, ( 1-13/16 ?) but somebody check me on that. The Sprocket is fairly straight forward. Any metric socket set will have all you need, unless you need to split the chain. There's a tool for splitting the chain that makes life much easier. Oh, and a couple of hex keys and the spanner from your tool kit for adjusting the chain, and a pair of pliers.

If you are going to change the front sprocket then you will need a 36mm socket as well.

If you are changing the rear sprocket you may need a longer or shorter chain, and it's usually a good idea to replace them anyway if there's quite a few miles on it.

1-13/16 is the standard size.

You'll also need a rear SSSA paddock stand. If you don't already have one then:

A really good investment is a center stand from Mo-Tech (German) available on the net.
