Does anyone know of a way to add gear indication to the S3. Not too interested in the Acumen, etc. I understand it is part of the 675 instrument cluster, and I can only think that it would be difficult to add to the S3, but was hoping I am wrong.

You may be able to fit the instrument cluster from the 675. They look the same size but I haven't checked. It won't be a cheap way of getting a gear indicator either. I'd love an indicator aswell, I'm sick of trying to change into 7th gear :lollol:

Just "use the force". I've found that when I try to chift into 7th gear, I usually already have the sneaking suspicion that I'm in 6th already- but I try it anyway just to be sure. I'm starting to stop doing that.

So- just trust your instincts that you are already in 6th and you will probably be right. Eventually you just get a feel for your speed-to- rpm ratio and instintually know what gear you are in.

-Course, you have to ride a lot to get to that point...

I hate not knowing what gear I am in either but I have learned to judge by my RPMs. In 6th at about 58 to 63 mph you should be at 4000 RPMs. If you are going 60+ and at 4k+ RPMs, you know you are in 6th or at least I know...

This is one option:

Veypor Display

And this is another:

Engear indicator

I have no experience with either.

Or, just memorize the speed/RPM/Gear table.

Or be like most people and don't worry about it.

The 695 display is almost exactly like the S3 display, but it won't work for the gear change. My understanding is the S3 doesn't have the sensor required for the display to know what gear you are in.

Another option might be the wireless helmet visor gizmo.

I still find myself trying to shift into 6th gear when I'm in 5th... problem is I only have 5 speeds!

Starlane makes some interesting electronic bits and bobs. Check it out:

Xenon Digital Dashboard

Engear Gear Indicator

Polestar Multifunction Tach

Also check out their super-clean power shift kits!
