Long time lurker, coming out because...
...I finally went ahead & bought an 03 S3 (Black - they are faster, right ) after thinking about it for a long time...

Bike has 400 miles so far, and I have changed oil already at 380 miles). So fasr, it has been an absolute blast to ride! I am still getting used to the riding position - coming from an F4i, this feels different...

One nag though - looks like the headstock bearing problem is showing up. When I get on the brakes, it hear plastic crunching sound. It can hear it even when I move the bars left to right after getting on the brakes sigh! I will take it to the dealer when they open tomorrow...

Questions:
- I am thinking of changing to water wetter+distilled water by 1000 miles (track day coming up on 19th). Any issues with that?
- Planning on changing to synthetic oil @ 1000 miles. From what I have read here so far, I guess that's ok?
- is the head bearing issue a perennial issue or can it be resolved?

Cheers!

Few pictures of my S3:

When you are at the dealer, go ahead and buy the tool that tightens the headstock nut...you will need it as part of your toolkit. :-D Once you have the tool, IMO it's a non-issue since it is child's play to tighten.

And congrats BTW.

I have read the instructions here & on t595.net - Seems like the only alternative so far . Sigh! Seems easy enough to do though...
