Okay folks, I am thinking about putting grills in the side cover
openings. Since I am completely unbiased about color, which
do you think would go best on my bike?

Silver, it sets off the silver lettering nicely.

Gold or blue!

I know - I'm in the minority here, but I like the anodized gold of the forks and the blue of the fork adjusters. It's the li'l dashes that make it spicy.

Stay with the black theme you've adopted for the rest of your bike.

TrackSenior,
I went with shiny silver 'cause that's what I found in the bits bin. Matt or shiny silver, black, and gold are all viable alternatives.
Black is discreet, matt silver a bit less, shiny silver bordering on ostentacious, and gold downright gaudy.

Choose whatever floats your boat! They all look nice.

Unless you plan on blacking out your exhaust some time, silver.
