The reason I ask is I can get a 98 S3/Daytona service manual
for a good price but don't want to find out things like the 98 has O2 sensors and completely different wiring etc. than
the 97.

I don't think the chassis is very different, but the 97 is an 885 cc and the 98 is the first 955 cc. I would call a dealer and ask them.

The 1998 model is still the 885, as far as I know. '99 was the first year of the 955.

As far as I know, the '97 and '98 models are basically identical...

Maybe they made both the same year but I just shut off my 98 and it is certainly an 885. And its also black and the bollocks.

I just asked on t595, because I thought they went to 955 in 98. Maybe the Speed Triple stayed at 885, because I have a buddy with a 98 Daytona 955.

I had a '97 Daytona, which also had a 955 engine. the Daytonas always had 955s, but the S3s had 885s for the first two years of production.

wow all the controversy. I'm thinking my 97 is the 3rd
year ? And it is a 885.
