Hi All,

I've gotten a couple of requests for an "Aftermarket parts" sticky, and while I understand the reasoning, I think it would be better to let folks post common aftermarket mods in the "Common S3 issues" thread.

I know that folks get irritated whenever they see a frequent post cluttering up the board, but you're going to have that sometimes, especially on a Speed Triple specific forum. What we really need to do is encourage folks who post such questions, and those who are new to the board, to simply use the search button or refer to the currently existing stickies.

Thanks a lot everyone and hope you're all enjoying the warm months.

Ride safe

-Matthias

Hi Matthias,

I don't really get your reasoning. Stickies are used for commonly asked questions/issues, aftermarket parts is a big question. That is why the front brakes issue has been made into a sticky right? And what about the helmet sticky, what purpose does that serve?

I supose putting the aftermarket parts in the "Common S3 issues" thread could be useful if it were on the first page, and updated, Kuhlka has kindly offered to do this. If it is burried 12 pages down why bother? I see you are on the first page would you be willing to edit your first post to add the parts list?

I agree with using the search feature, but lets be honest we are lazy and most people would love to just have one click for a common question.

-Stephan

I have to agree that the "Common S3 Issues" thread is rarely used. It seems to be too general, and has little need to be sticky. The Helmet thread is also a waste being sticky. It should be in the "Reviews section", shouldn't it? I really don't like to see tons of sticky threads- of any kind.

That being said, I do think the "Aftermarket Parts" thread is a good candidate for being sticky. The other one I would like to see is a "How to post pictures" thread.

The two I specifically DON'T want to see are the "Car oil v/s Motorcycle specific oil" thread, and even worse the dreaded "How to break in a new engine" thread.

-Oh, and don't get me started on Triumphrat.net's horrible search functions.

I can't even begin to think why having an aftermarket parts thread as a sticky would be a bad idea... :???:

Was it this same reasoning that made a helmet sticky!? What is that all about!? Get IT out of this forum and put up a sticky on the aftermarket! It's the one question that gets asked most often, followed by general information that would be found in the S3 reading list that R100Pilot posted about.

!..STRANGE..!

Not to be rude. But if your worried about clutter on the board, delete or move some of the "which color is faster" or other pointless threads.

On one hand I agree, but on the other hand you have to admit at least those threads are active. They'll die off soon enough.

I think an aftermarket sticky is MUCH better than a helmet sticky... NO one discusses helmets...

I agree with the above. The reasoning doesn't make sense. If it is a "marketing" thing with the fear that it will become a "market place" enviro... I would understand. Then, some restrictions should be in place.

I'm hesitant to complain about anything on a free board, but I must agree the search feature is just *****... Major pain to find anything, and must be sorted through. Even narrowing the selections yields almost worthless results.

As far as defining a "useless" thread... there is no way to do that... If we were to really give THAT any legs, then 90% of what we ALL tend to discuss would be gone, then the board would be useless at ALL levels...

My vote, make aftermarket stuff a sticky... :-D
