Went to pull the tank on my 04 Speed Triple last night and after disconnecting the fuel connections fuel kept on leaking from both connectors. So I reconnected both connectors but they where still leaking. I have now removed the tank and drained the gas. I am trying to decide between letting the dealer fix it under warranty or ordering the chrome plated brass fittings from Greatbay. Has any one had experience with Triumph's new improved fittings (are both the male and female fittings metal?) How about the metal ones from Great Bay? Any help is appreciated.

I don't know what ones Great bay is offering, but Team Triumph of Wisconsin has been offering metal fuel fittings for years. i put them on my 2000 RS, 03 Triple, and 04 Daytona and never had a problem.

Here is what they are:

this is there description:

METAL FUEL FITTING KIT
We know how easy these are to break! Replace those cheap plastic quick connects with these quality chrome plated brass fittings. Kit comes with all 4 fittings, extra Viton o-ring, clamp and instructions. Fits 2001-2004 Speed Triple
A Team Triumph exclusive product.
Part No. TTFKD-1 Price $75.00

And here is the web page you can find them on:

slight hijack.

are those supposed to act like one way valves or shut off the
fuel when disconnceted ? I have never removed my 97 tank
because i thought you had to empty the tank first.

Also assuming my 97 works the same as newer models ?

the fuel connectors, whether plastic or metal, are self-sealing [wouldn't make much sense if they weren't].

roller, check w/ your local stealership if they have the metal ones in stock, they might have them. mine did. btw, the recall only covers the female [tank side] connectors.

Are you sure the recall is for the female (tank side) fitting?

The recall was only for the male fitting as they had a problem with getting cracked. I got the recall done on mine almost right after buying the bike and they only replaced the male fittings. Unless your dealership is going to replace both connectors (male + female) you're better off buying the Team Triumph kit.

I'm going to order a set this week as my plastic female fittings leak like a SOB and it has screwed up both the paint on my tank AND is delaminating my grip pads leaving a nice gooey adhesive all over the area where I put my knees.

brainfart. I meant MALE [as in peni$] connector.

I would still check w/ the parts dept. at your dealer for the brass fittings, they might have it in stock. If you search this site or t595.net I know there were people getting fittings online somewhere for under $4 each....
