As someone stated a few days ago, they are just not too crazy about some of my posts. Well, if any of ya are freak'n reading this thread that feel the same way as he did, you're just a f'n idiot after my obvious subject line. I'm not offering any technical advice, nor have I found the solution to mushy brakes, I'm just posting about the great time I had on my Triple this past weekend. So you've been warned!!!
Well, as some of ya already know, ol' cheap took a trip to Kentucky this weekend. I tell ya one thing, I fall more in love with my triple everytime I ride the d*mn thing! She's a hell of a machine!
Had a excellent trip out there on Saturday. Rode 280 miles Saturday thru some freak'n awesome kick ass roads! Some of you may have heard Roadkill talk about the Mt Rogers area. Well, that's the way we route our trip to the Derby state.
Hwy 58 going into Damascus, VA is a kick ass road, with turn after turn, after turn, after turn, for a good 20 miles or more I'd say. Only thing is, this area is huge on mountain biking, and we had to wrestle for position with a few vans pulling trailers with bike rentals! :-D But once you get to the end, there's usually some good scenery on some mountain bikes if ya know what I mean!
After that we hit another awesome road, hwy 16 going into Frog Level(I think that's what it's called?). Awesome road, you ride for miles and miles of turns with very minimal traffic. Atleast I haven't hit much on that road in the 3 different trips I've been.
After a quite a few more awesome back roads, we arrived at our destination, a Days Inn in Pikeville, KY. Cool place to stay with a restaraunt/bar in the same parking lot. So of course, as soon as we got there we broke out the Coors light :-D and got to feeling right. Then headed to the restaraunt for a big ol' steak and listen to the band while we checked out the local scenery, which isn't much unless you're really into John Deere's! :hammer:
Got a decent night's sleep, and headed back Sunday morning. 1st half of the day was awesome again, with the cheapster pull'n one of the best wheelies he's rode on the triple yet. Got her up and balanced right around 70-75 mph and just kept on going! :-D
And as for the other half of the ride home, we decided to come back thru Shady Valley, TN which is freak'n awesome!!! Like 489 cuves over 3 mountains or some sh*t, this road truly rocks. Only thing is, about 5 miles before we reached there, the bottom fell out. So we get to the store there, and it's pouring down rain, and we decided, screw it, let's get on back. So we rode thru it in the pouring down rain, and it continued to piss on us for another good hour after we made it thru on into Boone, NC. And it was a helluva storm with some pretty nasty winds too.
All in all, had a great trip, even with the 2 hours of riding in a freak'n monsoon. We rode about 340 miles back home for a grand total of 620 miles for the trip. So what's the point of my story? Even after having my baby for 6 months and riding it 4k miles, I still fall more in love with her everytime I jump on her! Only got a few pics, nothing spectacular, no action pics dang it! I'll try to post up the few that I have later on.
You guys keep riding and enjoy this d*mn wonderful machine that we've all come to know! Be safe. :-D

Sounds like a good weekend. I love Florida - year-around riding. But it would be nice to have some mountain roads to play on.
So how did you pack for the trip? Can ya pass along any S3 Touring Tips?

A few boring pics as promised, and a few words for Corners:
bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla :-D
Here we are at Frog Level...
and at the hotel...
our fearless leader on the left who rides the Meanstreak...
and that nutjob standing beside of him... check out the next pic for a little story...
and as I was saying about the nutjob, he lives in Wilmington, NC so he rode 250 miles just to meet up with us before the ride. So from Sat morning to Sun evening he rode more like 1100 miles. But here's the story that tells all, my man rode from NC to Alaska and back last year in 12 days. Total miles, just a hair over 11,000 miles!!! Granted he's practically driving a car, but it is 2 wheels! :-D
