Kuhlka... you are spot on regarding skilz... But there is a time and place for development.

I spend a bit of time doing all the basic stuff... Slow speed balance skilz are my thing... how tight can I U-turn etc... one area where the lack of steering lock is really noticable.

Since when were wheelies an evasive move??  :-D

I know what y'all mean. I don't know why anyone would drive aggressively on a sedate, relaxing cruiser like an S3. The bike is the perfect ride for sleepy tours. I'd like to read a lot more posts about taking long sunny cruises down the highway and then pulling over to pick a flower or take a nap when the ride becomes drowsy....zzzzzzzz....Wha? I'm off to yell at those dang kids that keep running around the pool! When I get back, I'm going to post a detailed story about how nice it is to go to bed early.

What a stupid question. You honestly believe that I'm not using my bike?

Ok, ya got me. The wheelies are just for fun, but locking up the brakes and practicing stoppies are a handy thing. I had to lock up my brakes in the rain one time when my buddy tried to turn left into me on a ride.

I do the slow turning thing as well and that is the FIRST thing I taught my wife when she wanted to learn how to ride. Had her ride up and down the long driveway with a tight circle at either end. Got her up to the point where she could turn circles with the handlebars at full lock before I said ok to the street.

Funny you should mention slow speed stuff, as my local sportbike club does 'slow drags' to see who can travel like 20ft the slowest.

I race downhill mountain bikes... most of the skill work is slow speed stuff... ya gotta go slow, to go fast... Handling is everything at slow speed...

Funny, I just had this conversation today at work with a co-worker who is looking to buy a bike.

There's the riding you do and the riding you wish you did more of.

90% of my riding is the daily commute. 30 miles with 20 or so on the interstate. Boring, boring.

I do get out on a weekend a month or so and play in the twisties. Head up the backroads to the BRP.
