Who has this undertail? I think it looks great and looking for feedback from owners.
Thanks

I have their fly screen... Cool piece. But it is rough FG... I did not get the finished version... Just FG in black gel coat. Typically with anything FG, if not prefinished, is going to require quite a bit of prep to get it right. So far I've left mine as gelcoat. I may just leave it like that for good... Haven't decided. It's kind of a semi-gloss black. Offsets the seat well.

I digress...

I have heard the underseat pieces kind of suck in the fit/finish department. I can see that based on my F-screen. The mounting for the F-screen was "hacked" at best. I had to create a mount for the thing... (more hacking) I think they could have done better with this.

One thing I can say is Franck is very cool and will answer all questions, and if you are not happy he would gladly take it back... Unfortunately, they are in Italy... Shipping is fast considering, and emails responded to promptly...

It is a cool and unique piece. Does look a bit Yamakawahondsuki though... I'd be interested in hearing some feedback with preinstall pics if you get one!! :-D

Read previous post. I am VERY happy with the Tail Tidy. It's very solid, installs in minutes, and uses stock mounting screws removed from original fender/number tag piece. Although I'm still using stock signal lights, Lockhart Philips lights fit into the holes as well. It's reasonably priced too. Click here to check it out.

I purchased a rear hugger and undertail for FSD for my ZX-6R back in 2002. I never mounted the hugger to my bike until after the $5000 paint job was applied to my bike. It was then that I realized how crappy it was after being mounted. It was crooked and flimsy. It would shake around while riding. It was so flimsy it eventually cracked the very expensive paint that was applied to it.

The undertray never made it on the bike. I too was crooked and the lights that were sent were not what was pictured on their website. They were held in place by bungie cords and the lights themselves would never seat right. When I called them about it I was told that they would work. I wound up selling the part on E-Bay at a tremendous loss.

I'll never buy another one of thier products again. I paid $229.00 bucks for a POS hugger and I forget how much for the undertail that I lost my ass on. Stay away!

Thanks for the info Thunderpunk! I haven't bought anything yet but I think I am going to go with the New Speed 3 kit.
This months been tough on $$$ so far though. Car insurance, bike insurance (I pay the whole premium up front to get a discount) and trying to pay off the S3 faster too so I can be like Graham

Then the mods can flow!

Sheet metal: $8. Paint: $6. Doing it yourself? Priceless.

If I can do it, you can probably do it better, but it really doesn't matter 'cause all of the support structure is hidden anyway:

Stone Age Man Removes Vestigal Tail

Web page with details

And you take the money you save and get some cooler, smaller LED turn signals for an even slicker look.

I've got a Clear Alternatives taillight/turnsignal to replace the stock parts. I've bought some sheet aluminum and drawn up a minimalist plate mount without turnsignal mounts. Once I get it finished I'll post a pic and the drawing with dimensions.

One of the things I've been thinking about is using the muffler mounts as mounting points for the rear turn indicators. Gotta have a Zard pipe installed to do this though. I will be looking into it once I get my bike.
