last night, i was riding home from a bar that i had met my friends at to watch the mavs game (go mavs!). i took my usual route but i noticed up ahead they had some road work signs. it didn't look bad so i kept going. mind you, this is at about 10:30pm so it was dark out. i'm pacing along with a couple of other cars. before i know it, i'm going thru a small patch of water. no big deal. i get home, park it, and go to sleep.
this morning, i wake up and get ready for work. i go out to the garage, open the door, roll my bike out, and much to my dismay, my freakin bike looks like somethin squirted it with a mud gun. the exhausts, all of the undertail, the rear shock, the stainless stel headers, front fender, radiator, oil cooler, from the the crankcase and cylinders, are covered with muddy water. FUUUUUUUUUUU...........................
i knew it would happen eventually but *****, i've only had my bike for a month. hate when this ***** happens. i was so pissed this morning. i tried to clean off the exhausts with some window cleaner. i did not have enough time to get to the rest of the bike so i will give it a good thorough washdown when i get home from work later today.
=(

I would have some sympathy, but it rained EVERY time I took the S-3 out, inc. the ride home, until this past week. Of course, the back way home from the dealer ( since 3500rpm doesn't allow U to keep up with 75mph traffic ) had a 1/2mile stretch of gravel due to road construction. It does hurt when your brand new bike is filthy in it's first pic.
The S-3 seems to have more nooks & grannies than my SV 650. Luckily, the extra torque & hp balance that out...

Hmm... washing is a rite of passage, a bonding ritual between you and the beastie. It gets you up close and personal and is a perfect time to familiarize yourself with what is where, and whether anything seems out of place.
It has been noted elsewhere that the GP teams are obsessive about keeping the bikes clean, not only because it keeps things tidy, but because it helps them find little things like cracks, loose wiring, etc. that might be missed on a cursory inspection.

Try the hondabrite spray polish. I think it's marketed as a cleaner/polish but the stuff is AWESOME. Best bug remover I have ever used and you can use it on everything, even your helmet windscreen. I use it on my bike all the time and once you try it, you'll be hooked too. Just get the real gritty stuff off gently first.

I agree with amaraan,
The Pro Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish is excellent. I paid $5.95 for it at the local dealership. (A relative term that, as the dealership is 100 miles away.)
My 2 cents worth.
