Im still trying to sort out this problem with my s-3.Three weeks ago my fuel regulator went out .My bike would idle but kept stalling out every time I rolled on throttle,kinda simulating running it out of gas....Could this have taken out fuel pump?Ive ridden bike three times since it was fixed,but as I posted earlier the other day it just quit and wouldnt start.The next day it would however,intermittent problems are hard to diagnose!

I am a bit confused between the title of this post and the contents. Did you run the bike out of gas or did the pressure regulator fail or both? Running out of gas could conceivably burn out the pump because they are cooled by the gasoline. However, they usually survive the occasional dry run. A failed pressure regulator should not take out the fuel pump.

Stating the obvious but have you checked for tank vacuum? Seems a common prob on the S3. Just open the fuel tank, when the engine refuses to run/runs badly, and if air whooshes in then you have a stuck/non vertical tip over valve or a kinked/blocked breather pipe.
