Bolted on my skyking sliders yesterday and fell over in
a parking lot today when I lost my footing going about 2-3
mph trying to turn into a parking spot. Scraped my elbow
a bit but had my boots and joe rocket on so no more than
my pride hurt, the bike just touched on the front radiator
slider , no damage.

Great timing. BTW John King was very helpful on the phone and shipped them very fast, thank GOD.

So that front rad slider protected even the handlebars?

Yeah I was suprised too, I did have the bars at a full left
turn when I hit mother earth and I thought for sure my mirrors (stock) or bars would get bent, nope, ***** happy
with the money spent and saved on them after today.

So now I can say OK, I have been down now officially.
Did I mention grapevine mills is a HUGE MALL with so many witness's .

The old slow turn tumble catches us all at some point in our riding adventures. Good to hear all is well though. Yipee for Sliders

There's a very easy trick to turning full lock slowly. Stick your arse completely off the opposite side of the seat to the turn you want to make. All that should be on the seat is the upper leg that is on the inside of the turn you are doing. Crank the whole upper body & head to look where you want to go and presto you can turn full lock all day at 1mph.

Please forgive me if I've just told you something that you were already well aware of . :-D

Glad it was a drop and not a slide! I'd say the investment paid for itself.

But yeah, ego-wise, I'd say the slow drop is about the most embarassing thing that can happen. I haven't had any problems with the Triple, I guess 'cause I'm used to the BMW, which is tall and topheavy, especially with a full tank. I dumped mine coming out of the parking garage at work - down the ramp, U-turn through a dip in the road. Kinda tricky, but I'd done it plenty of times. Until one day after work with a line of coworkers, including The Hot Chick, behind me.

Another tip to add - Use the REAR BRAKE ONLY when you're doing a slow turn and modulate power with the clutch. This is how the cops do it. Do NOT touch the front brake or you will be saying hi to the asphalt.

thanks for the tips. Though I never feel comfy hanging off the bike going slow, I need to practice that. And I did not
know about the rear brake only when slow, that I will also
practice.

Glad to hear you are ok - did a similar one a couple months ago - If you bunged up your slider, give Jonh King a call and he can send you a replacement...... He is just excellent to do business with!! :chug:

I did a similar embarassing goof while backing out of a tight parking spot with the wheel turned full left and the bike tipping to the steep downhill side of the street. I couldn't catch the weight of the bike as my downhill leg was now unexpectedly too short and applying the front brake put even more momentum into the downhill direction. The end result was that the bike fell on my leg (only my pride was hurt), broke the right foot-peg-bracket and cracked the right front directional signal lens and bent the brake lever. This was before I installed my SkyKing top-rear engine mount sliders (close the barn door after the horse escapes). In a tip-over like that I'm not sure if the slider would have prevented the foot-peg-bracket from cracking or not. My dealer told me that Triumph designs these brackets to fail in such a tip-over so the frame doesn't get bent. Has anyone else broken a foot-peg-bracket in a similar mishap?
