OK, it would appear I am finally going to released back into the population, should be only a month or two before I have the funds to finally get a bike after a 2+ year hiatus.

I have decided on the Speed Triple. I've been fortunate enough to have two 20-minute demo rides on it, and one 3-hour demo ride (NinjaRat rules, thanks bud!). And my thanks to Triumph Detroit, who are a shining example of what a motorcycle dealership should be.

I don't usually like to make a lot of aftermarket modifications to a bike until I've at least had a good year to get myself acclimated to the bike and it's "natural" state. Yes, I realize how nice the Arrows are, as well as a few others, but I'm going to wait a while for aftermarket. So, bearing that in mind...

My question to you all wiser folks is, can you give me any reason to NOT get the Triumph "off-road" pipes right off the bat?

They sound intoxicating to me (both my demo bikes have had them fitted), and they're a comparitive bargain at $500. Forgetting cost (I can easily afford them) I can't think of a reason to not have them. Even if I later choose to go aftermarket, I just can't help feeling I'd now be disappointed if I went with the stock pipes.

I look forward to your wisdom and advice.

Buy them. Much better bike with than without, , well worth the money. Make sure they do the Map as well though.

I'll be a bit different and say don't. Coming off my Kawa with an Akra pipe I find the the TORS rather muted.

The back end looks rather bulky with the stock or TOR cans.

Also the headers look like they were cast in some backstreet foundery.

Guess where this is going! ZARD. Problems are:
1. Cost
2. Haven't yet come across a decent undertail yet
3. I need the rear foot pegs and the stock ones would look fugly sticking out without the stock cans.
4. Torque & power curves move further up the rev range.
5. Present set up with TORS and map is great, power and response, only prob is fuel consumption.

My 2d worth.

Check out Trident before you decide on the TORs - more power, better looking (IMO) and much much lighter...

There are some good video and sound clips from one of the guys on this board

The Triumph accessories calalog shows stainless off road cans for the 1050 S3 but I swear I have seem a bunch of you guys mention carbon fiber TORS. Does such a thing exist for the 05-06 S3? My dealer is clueless. If they are available, please post the part number. a pic would be nice too. TIA.
