Went to my dealer today for clutch adjustment, while i was there i asked the mechanic about the brake saga,he reckons the fault is the master cylinder.Has anyone tried a different one yet?

The problem is not the m/cyl, but changing the m/cyl will mask the problem enough that you won't notice it anymore.

I have the Nissin 5/8" which is the budget choice and have not had to worry about the brakes after the upgrade.

Where did you get it?
At least Jack Lilley has 'em as I see you are located in the UK. It is a direct replacement for the stock, identical exterior so fits right in, it only has a larger bore.

I think Kawi 9R and bunch of the ~2000 model jap bikes used the same 5/8", but I am not 100% sure on this one so cannot recommend ebay hunting before getting confirmation from somewhere.

Drain brake fluid, loosen banjo bolt on stock m/cyl, remove m/cyl, put new one in it's place, reassemble and put new brake fluid in + bleed brakes.

Easy job for the diy man.

Remember to get new copper/aluminium crush washers for the banjo bolt also as they are 'use once'-items, especially on brakes.

Sounds correct. This is the one I have:

No need for new lever or anything else, all stock parts fit directly.

Spendthrift, let me know if it works. If it does, I will do the same. Not that I doubt the word of Martin_R.
