My bike is just over 1 year old (20.3.05). Today I decided to tinker with my suspension settings. I never have bothered before; my logic was sadly that Mr Suzuki, Yamaha etc knew how to set things up. My job was to ride the thing.
Shock horror I followed some good advice to ensure the bike was riden on std settings. The bike was miles away from std front and rear, its odd as i've had the bike from new and NEVER touched a thing!!!

The Rebound damping adjuster at the bottom of the rear shock would not move, its solid. Apart from that its now as per the manual. The clever man on the net told me to ride std and decide from there if needed to be changed. (I guess he knew it would be way off - even out of the factory)

Once I've ridden I'll let you know if its made a difference.

Next steps are to set the sag for my weight 15st
(sorry boys 210lbs)

Who knows where it will end.

Any tips much appreciated from those who have done it before....

Let me know how you get on.. I weight nearly same (15 and half stones). And I need to twiddle the sag as well.. it seems that on hard endos, the front end is near of bottoming.. I need to increase preload so all advice is handy.

Try the other side, it's wrong in the manual

A big plus for setting the bike to standard. I recomend you check your setting if your bike is new. Mine were a mile away.
She's so much better than she was.
Time to tinker now....

Like MH's bike, my susp was not set to "stock" either. Good idea to check your settings, especially if you're not happy with the ride.

One little tip i was told by a suspension bloke was every time you tinker with your adjustment screws or after every few washes give the screws a light spray with WD-40 or INOX,which are rust inhibitors and bolt looseners.Don't know what your version would be over there. You could try squirting the stuck one and let it sit for a hour or so and see if that will free it up a bit.WD-40 and INOX are also known as water dispersers.

Hope you don't mind MH but i have posted another thread with all the info from the link above. I thought it was worthy as a thread of its own. It might make for an easier search down the track if someone wants info on suspension setup.
