I haven't done much personal adjustment either. For the S3 and my R6 I used Sport Rider's recomended settings, then tightened a couple of them for my extra beef (~210 lb). The difference from stock was huge and in a good way.

Still having a play with the suspension.
How the F...k are we meant to turn the large lock ring on the rear suspension. Is there a special tool available from Triumph? I wanted to increase the thread showing to 5mm as per the gostar link. Its taking an age to turn the thing with a flat screw driver and rubber mallet !!!!
Any tips boys. Should I take it off the bike to do this?

Got it sussed. I used an old c spanner one with a knuckled end to allow it to cover many radius'. Unlock the nut and hey presto. An extension bar on the C to make it 12inches long and you get plenty of leverage to compres the spring. She's now fully set up as per the Gostar racing link; front and back. If I get out tommorow I'll feedback. If its ***** I'll take it back to standard.

I decided to experiment today. Being in the lightweight division at 12 stone in gear I wanted to soften it up a little for a more comfortble ride. A caveat here that I'm not a peg dragger and prefer to ride the "pace" at about +20 to the corner sign speeds. Binning the Connie 2 years ago made me re-evalueate my riding skills

The check of the inital settings was a complete suprise as they were in line with the "normal" settings in the owners manual. (The local stealer I bought from is 99% worthless and I rue the day I might have to go back for warrenty or EFI work). I set all the dampening to the "soft" settings, backed off the front preload to 4 lines, and left the rear preload where it was.

I then did a 300mi. roadtest up to Corners neighborhood in the sw WI twisties. I'd say I'm real close to what I want. The overall ride was markedly improved by removing the sharp hit of the bigger bumps. But, twice I hit a bump mid-corner and ran a little wide of my line. Did I back off the rebound dampning too much? I'll try another 1/4 turn tomorrow.

I had to tighten the chain for the first time (1300mi.) before I left and would have taken some slack out of the throttle cable at my first smoke break but didn't have any spanners. The stock tool kit sucks. Only enough there to do the chain.

Anyway, I'm close on the suspension and I swear this thing puts a bigger grin on my face every time I ride it. It's off to the garage for an oil change and that throttle cable slop.
