I've got a 2002 S3 I just bought, and it came with a Black Widow underseat pipe and a Power Commander. I think the bike is running rich, but it runs well, so I'm reluctant to screw around too much with the PC. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a K&N filter (or similar) and wondered if there was any difference in power, noise, or fuel mixture. I realize this isn't going to be some catch-all answer to lifes problems, but if I'm going to replace a filter, is it worth it?

I dont think so I've got an 03 and I had/have a K&N filter didnt notice much power boost-maybe above 7k rpm which I dont spend that much time at ...Where I live the road runs out or traffic magically appears . And as far as i could tell the bike didnt really run lean ( I checked the plugs) but sort of on the lean side. The most noticeable difference was how crappy my mileage was. I dont like running out of gas at 164 miles. But YMMV...

K/N has caused me nothing but problems with all my bikes in the past. I would say s***** it. Stick with the stock. My R1 ran like ***** with the k/n. I switched it back and it was fine.

My 03 runs great with it. I think I noticed the airbox noise more after installing it, but overall I've had a good experience with the K&N.
