I have an 03 S3, and am currently talking to Acumen regarding them producing me a plug and play loon ie a 16 pin stack plucg to fit between the instrument pod and the exisiting loom plug.

Kevin there has all the wiring details, including colur scans from my workshop manual, confirmed by inspection too. He has promised to have a loom ready end of this week.

Suggest it might be worth waiting rather than digging holes in wires.

If it helps, I can pm you the wiring diagram?

Thanks for replying.

That sounds like a good idea using a plug in between.

Do you mind me asking what they are going to charge you for this and would they be prepared to make another?

I would still however be interested in seeing the diagrams you have.

Kevin is working on it at the moment!!

I think he mentioned about £36 over and above the cost of the DG8, which is reasonable to my mind, and yes, I'm sure they will make as many as they can sell!!

Guys,

Can you keep us posted on the outcome of this? I, for one, would be really interested in adding one of these to my Triple.

Thanks,
Capt.

For 2002MY onwards, Acumen's loom kit for the 955i Daytona works.

Fortunately, I have a nosecone fairing on my S3, but for those of you who don't, the loom is somewhat excessive. It would be difficult to hide! I have advised Acumen of this.

Apart from being a case of removing the tank and airbox to get at the 3 pin speed sensor connector, and the excess lenth of wire, fitting was relatively straightforwards.

Programming the device was "interesting"! Finding a suitable bit of quiet road , then riding along concentrating on anything but was a challenge!! Worked though.

My only criticism overall is that the "refresh rate" of the unit is painfully slow at anything under 4000 rpm, or low road speeds. So slow in fact as to render it almost worthless from what I've seen so far. However, that was only a few miles last night: I'll reserve judgement until I've given it a proper run.

Any updates on this DG8 toy?

I wonder if switching to their manual cable (for bikes that don't have digital speedo) would increase the pulse speed enough to make the gear changes update more quickly. I sent them a note - hopefully the answer is yes.

I have bought a Veypor bike computer, but honestly don't know if I want to mount it. The display is very thorough, and cool, but it's a tough shape/size to find a good mounting spot. I may just put it on ebay (had it too long to return).

I still want a reliable gear change indicator - I keep hunting for 7th. DOH!
